The company sent me a check for a good amount of money and I am quite aware of fraudulent money. Is there a company in Canada, with the name Chemstar Corporation, Halifax, NS B3J 3X7 |

I received the same thing in the mail yesterday. Does yours come with a papaer stating that you won some kind of North american drawing and are entitled to 75000 dollars in us funds? That is what mine said and that I had until March 9 to claim my prize. The check they sent was for about 3000 dollars. My uncle is the captain for the police dept and he took a look at it and said that if it was a fake check it was a damn good one. I took it to the check chashing store and it was not counterfeit but they would not cash it. On my check it has an address in georgia for thair disbursement unit. I called info and got the number for chemstar which does have that address. As soon as I asked the lady if they had an affiliate with Canada she asked me if I had received a check in the mail. She informed me it was a scam! Too darn good to be true. But you are not the only one out there. |

Chemstar is not listed in the Halifax phone book (http://411.ca)
The postal code points to a single building ...
1546 Barrington Street, Halifax, NS
... which is a 7 story apartment building ...

The above was all I could see with public sources. Why not just cash the check? Or, did they ask for an "advanced fee" to release the check? Hope that brings you closer to an answer. Good luck. |

Received check in the mail Saturday for $2920.00. I tired to called the phone # in Canada but got put on hold. Has anyone called the police or better business ? called the bank of north georgia and was informed that someone had stolen chemstars financial information and are trying to spend the money. all accounts have been closed for chemstar at this time and please do not try and cash the checks. |

I have received two checks, two different amounts, I cashed the 1st one 10 days ago, my bank had put a 10 day hold on it, but it cleared!
The 2nd check is almost the same as you have said with
Chemstar, but mine has a different address on it, from GA.
I received the 2nd check 2 days ago, I will call the # Monday 26th?
Why would they send money, and not ask for anything in return?
Does yours have a phone # on it?
Hope-full, but very worried after seeing these post's today!! |

I got the same check and tried to email the company i found on line with the same name and it was returned to me because of no such email address so i would guess its a fraud too bad !!!UUUUGGGHH!! |

I called the Bank of North Georgia (named on the check) and they confirmed that this is a fraud/scam. |

I called the bank also and got the same response. All I said was I was just calling to verify the validity of a check I received and the person I spoke with in customer service told me the account number and the name of the company "chemstar corporation". On Saturday I called the number on the letter and they said just to deposit the check but I don't understand how they get anything out of you if the check is no good and they didn't ask me to wire or send them any money. But I'm sure there is a way. |
