A question about harassment in a corporate setting?
I work for a very large Fortune 500 company that deals in very expensive merchandise. A situation happened to me recently that I am looking for some input on. My brother recently did business with my company and was very unhappy with the end product. I tried to inquire about it with a manager and was told I had to stay out, which I did. Months later it comes to my attention that my brother had borrowed something while his product was in on warranty and returned it 1-2 months late. I did not know this and was asked by another manager to see it he still had the borrowed product, the manager was not sure. Then, the other day a 3rd manager (the store's main manager) pulled me aside and asked me what was going on with my brother keeping the borrowed product for so long? I said I did not know until recently, I was told to stay out of it. The manager then proceeded to tell me that "it did not reflect well on me that a relative of mine did this to the company." Was he wrong to say this to me?
When management pulls crap like that, ask them to send it to you in writing.

Sounds like your brother is causing you problems. They should deal with him not harrass you.

Yes. The manager is wrong to say that to you. The deal is between your brother and the company. None of the managers should have asked you about it.

YES!! Especially after saying for you to 'Stay out of it" ! as you were requested to do and I would remind him of the fact as well as an old saying" I am not my brother's keeper"!

Yes, it was. I'd suggest that you document all that is happened and send that to your HR team to ensure something doesn't get lost in translation at a later time as well as the manager's actions being inappropriate.
