I have a baby who is 3 months now and recently recieved a present from someone i know and the size clothes she bought for my daughter is from 0 - 3 months, so its a small size for my baby, the lady said i could get it changed but didnt give me the reciept to return and the item is from ASDA, so do you think if i took the clothes back and asked to have it exchanged for a bigger size would they exchange it, thank you for all your answers.

First of all to reply to some of the replies; by law a retailer does not have to give you a receipt so by law they can't insist on seeing a receipt. A receipt is a form of proof of purchase, the tags and bag, chequebook stub and credit card statment are proof as well. At the end of the day, a reciept is the easiest and best one to keep.
You are relying on the shops goodwill because an item bought incorrectly by the consumer does not entitle them to a refund or exchange. If they are not fit for the purpose (ie. they wouldn't cloth a baby of that age) or they are faulty, then the shop would have to refund or exchange.
But that aside, I'm sure if you asked, I wouldn't have thought Asda would decline an exchange. The only trouble is, the price. If they're much lower in price now they might only give you a credit to that value. Bearing in mind they want to resell them so with the tags missing, I'm not sure. Maybe Asda are one of those retailers that can retag instore. |

You need a receipt to get the money back, but seeing as you just want to change it for another size they should do the change no problems if it's got the tags and everything still attached. |

yeah they will as long as it has the tags on, i have took stuff back without the reciept (i ALWAYS loose them!!)
if they havent got the next size or anything else you like, they will put the money on a gift card (bit like a credit card) so when they have something in you like you can use the card to pay for it. the only thing they wont do is give you cash back!
take it to the george counter and they will do it all for you no problems.
i think i remember taking an item back with no tags, and they exchanged it or gave me a gift card, they used the label on the inside for the number (i believe i told them it had been a present!) but they had it in stock so was a straight swap. im sure they will, esp if you take the greeting card to prove its a present (and the baby too always helps lol)
otherwsie cant you ask your friend to send the reciept? always worth a go, worst they can say is no but im not sure they will. |
