After the federal gov't broke up the "ma bell" companies, why are they allowing them to merge all over again?
Example: AT&T rebirth and merging with everyone.

Funny how that happened, isn't it...and funny how all the "free-market competition" in the telecommunications field has resulted only in increased prices and the re-merger of the major carriers time and time again, all for their profit and the price fixing that goes with it.

Because it was bullcrap to break them up in the first place. For certain things, like telecommunications, a monopoly isn't necessarily a bad thing.

A very good example of "the circle of life."

They just merged with Bellsouth and Cingular down here, it is rather ridiculous...remember the billions they spent splitting it all up?

I agree...this is stupid.

Monopolies are not illegal, monopolistic practices that prohibit the emergance of competitors is illegal. They broke them up to put an end to the their corruption, but there is nothing about them getting back together now that the time limit has passed. So long as they don't continue their old ways.

Nothing is done in this country that does not benefit someone that has bought it.
Sad, but true.
