Here is the secret! Enter from the exit end through the checkouts!!! Takes you straight to the warehouse and market. Keep a catalogue handy at home so you can plan what you want and know what aisle it will be stored in, in the warehouse. Been doing that for years - in and out in under fifteen minutes! Their stuff is great ... sitting at one of their desks ;-) |

If you HAVE to go, try going at a later time if possible (some open til' midnight during the week). Also look out for short-cuts in the store - it will save you having to traipse through the departments you want to avoid. |

It's hell. Absolute hell. I avoid it like the plague. The only problem is that you don't actually have to be in the store for it to p*ss you off.
I once had to drive from London to Yorkshire on a bank holiday for a family event and was stuck in traffic trying to get onto the M1 for 2 hours. There's an Ikea on the A406 (the road I have to take to get to the M1) and the queues all cleared up right after the Ikea turn off. People were queueing for miles and hours just to go to Ikea on a bank holiday Monday.
They're nuts. |

Only been once to the one off the north circular and would rather have dental work without pain relief than do that again |

I used to have exactly the same attitude until I bought my own place and didn't want to spend more than I needed to on furniture. So far I've not had any major problems there (apart from having asbo's in the same queue (Edmonton store) as I always go at a quiet time ie just opened
Lucky I don't go there very often. |

Ah!

I directly blame trips to Ikea as the reason my relationship ended in divorce!
I think Ikea is where couples go to row!
(and Supermarkets are where parents go to hit their kids!)
I'm just a sucker for their catalogues though! Wish they did home delivery! |

at least the one in Arizona, if you go during the week, it's so much quieter. Even at night. |

You know how I can tell a couple are getting serious? They go on a f*cking day out to Ikea! No joke!!! Every couple I know have done this.
Now I would rather stick my head in a Rottweiler's stinky gob whilst kicking its nuts than have do deal with a load of middle-class couples spooning round a shop that's filled with bizarrely-named goods. Would you like a Nobb chair madam? Or how about a Fanjita oven glove? A bag of 1000 tea lights for a tenner?
Gimme a break. |
