Please remember that your average American is oblivious of a world outside their own.
It's not their fault directly they have little influence over the signing of the Kyoto agreement.
Blame Mr Bush, personally. He's refusing to sign.
Why don't you write & tell him? Think we all ought to. |

yeah but you must take into account that not every other country is as civilized as we are. China should get their act together in terms of pollution before we do, have you seen the recent satellite pics of chinese pollution? |

Heck no. America is doing its best to solve world wide poverty..... by killing off everyone off in third world countries. Besides, your data is almost ten years old... we're helping now more than ever I would imagine. |

the point is their economies are in the toilet and if it wasn't for the US their economies would be non-existent. Kyoto would bankrupt this country and the world based on bad science. Not the way to go. |

WOW, ONLY A THIRD OF THE POLLUTION.
WE ARE IMPROVING, |

Unfortunately, China and India are exempt, as developing nations, from the strict application of the Kyoto treaty standards. American companies feel they would be at a disadvantage if the cost of their pollution had to be paid by them, one way or another. And our federal government is the handmaiden of the corporations, Whether Democrats or Republicans control Congress and/or the Presidency. |

sure,if we bother to stop making and passing legislation the protects corporate interests at public expense and hold them publicly accountable for their actions ,instead of ignoring all wrongdoing as if were nonexistent on mainstream media television, newspapers and so on and so forth |

Well thats exactly it. Clinton signed up to it and Bush withdrew. Its in line with his other policies, go it alone and try to be the best. When is he going to realize that sometimes its best do things multi-latterally? |

Let's pin the blame on Bush for not dealing with the Kyoto schtick. Besides, he was an oilman. |

Because Kyoto has no limitations on developing nations, but severe restrictions on us. The US produces as much CO2 as we do because we have the world's largest economy and our nation is, amongst the major ones, one of the least densely-populated, which means that massive public transportation systems are impractical here. We also amongst the major areas of the world have the most extreme climate, requiring larger amounts of energy expenditures for heating in the winter and cooling in the summer. |

Do you ride a bicycle to work yet? Or mow the lawn with an electric mower. If not...then why ask. Everyone has to do it. |

i think it will get worse, unless we get rid of gas and use something else like water to power everything |

Because adhering to the Kyoto protocol would be "detrimental to American economy". Full speed ahead...damn the environment.
Wonder what rising ocean levels, disappearing islands and worsening storms and weather will do to the economy? |
