Be helpful but not overly so. Smile occasionally. Arrive to work early. Yes, early. Don't gossip. Don't say negative things about a person to another.

Just maintain a friendly and polite demeanor. Never forget to smile.
Avoid bringing family or any personal problems with you in the office.
If somebody's not being friendly, don't be pushy, just let the person be.
Do not initiate or engage in any office gossip. If somebody shares anything with you, let it end there. Do not pass the message. So when trouble hits, you wouldn't be dragged along.
Best,
Aweng Moral-Basco
