i want to have some work experience in france for at least a week sometime next year (doesn't matter if it's paid or unpaid). anyone know of a company, other than Acorn, that helps students find work experience abroad to help them improve their french????? (preferably not staying with a host family) Additional Details p.s. LOVE SOMEpeople's positivy...actually yes there are 1 or 2 companies i found that act as a middleman, i.e they give the details of a job to the student (1 such example was acorn ike i said, but i want to find a few more). Don't know of many companies that employ people for ONE week! Anyway you want to learn french but do not want to stay with a host family!?! who would be speaking french and would probably teach you far more than a company.
That's like saying I really want to learn to swim but I just don't want to get very wet. |

Check with French embassy/consulate.
In Bombay they had a group call "Elias France", but there may be similar groups in big cities all over the world, they meet once a week and practise speaking and reading french. I think french embassy or consulate use to provide a teacher to the group free of charge and other French national use to visit it also.
Please read my article on the subject.

How to Learn Spoken Languages
By
minootoo
Call up the consulates near you. They may be running the classes with volunteers or may give you some info that they may have on the file.
For English you have choice between few countries.
Check paper for advertisements.
Use Internet, Google and the Web Search Button, both are at the top of this screen.
Telephone books may have the telephone number of classes or individuals.
Visit/call the colleges High Schools and talk to the head of the various department they will have good info.
Try to learn one language at a time.
You can start your own club, meet few times a weak and use the language for an hour or so to practice.
Read magazine from English speaking countries like England (UK, but England preferred), USA, and Canada. Read it loudly in front of a mirror, slowly but with proper pronunciations. Most dictionary (good college level have pronunciations and dictions), some other countries use lots of non English words that are very common in their countries but not generally known in the other countries, they are very much coined words, nothing wrong about learning them and using them occasionally to add flavor to the English language {Australian English comes to mind and American Cajun, a mixture of French and English, quiet different from French Canadian English. Some people will say there is no such thing English is English, they do not use even British Islander English such as Irish and Scottish English not to mention Cockney, used by poor people outside London proper (Kings and Queens English)}. |
