Yeah, in theory, it is. Microsoft's sales are not actually decreasing, but they're not increasing as fast as had been hoped. Microsoft execs say that the slower growth in sales is due to the general worldwide economic downturn, and scoff at the notion that it has anything to do with Apple.
On the other hand, Apple sales are actually increasing at a rate that is greater than expected, due largely to sales of the iPhone (although somewhat bolstered by sales of Leopard OS X).
Some cold hard numbers: for the three month period ending September 27, Apple announced an increase in profits of 26%. During the same period, Microsoft announced a profit increase of 2%.
For all their talk about how they think that Apple will fail, Microsoft seems awfully worried. The fact that MS is throwing hundreds of millions of dollars into advertising campaigns directed at potential Apple consumers is telling. |

I have no idea. I do know that apple is gaining more market share everyday though.
I just got the newest 2.4 macbook so I am happy about this! Mac will take over the world :D |

It is almost impossible to get a lot of software without using Microsoft.
I use tax software and I know of no software than will run on Apple. Also programs like Excel and Word run on Microsoft I also use Peachtree Accounting and a lot of people use Quckbooks which only run on Microsoft as far as I know. |

Ha- if u look at microsoft compared w/ other stocks, they've really held their own. Apple is trying. But Microsoft Windows Vista isn't that bad after you disable a ton of stuff. Apple may pull a little in the computer industry, but Microsoft still makes great games, and easy to use processing systems. (Unless u 80 yr. old) Plus microsoft is pulling some from Ipod with their Zune. And i'm not sure, but doesn't microsoft run an itunes rival? |
