Are U.S. corporations screwing or helping Americans by outsourcing to different countries?

Very funny. Americans are being screwed by corporations big time and all the time in pursuit of a larger profit line. If Americans would simply quit purchasing anything not manufuactured in America it might cause a shift in policy.

U S corporations are interested in one thing--money. If they can hire an Indian to do the job for 3.00 an hour vs 30.00 an hour, what do you think they are going to do? Might as well face the facts. Americans are no longer competative in many jobs. They can still flip bergers at the big Mac and they can still greet you at Walmart. But manufacting, computer programming, support functions, off to China and India. Of course the CEOs still get their multi million dollar bonuses. In fact the bonuses are larger because of all the money they saved shipping the jobs overseas where, the employer does not have to pay extravagant health care costs, Social Security, Unemployment, and taxes. Oh yes, lets not forget all the U S government regulations that they no longer have to worry about.

Come to think of it, I wonder why everyone not in government employment or health care is not out of a job.

Companies are badly hurting Americans by outsourcing internationally.

All of our schools are designed to fill jobs in corporations, but the jobs are no longer there. All of our skills have been developed to fulfill corporate jobs, but they are not there.

Corporations are so busy chasing the O'Mighty Dollar that they have lost sight of good workers, good products and real ethics!!!

Products are not what they used to be. While many products have become cheaper, they also are smaller in quantity. Andy Rooney did a great segment on how coffee cans are now smaller than a pound. Tissues come with fewer in the box.

While customer service reps can still be spoken to, they are hard to understand and read from scripts. Does it make sense to put people out of work with many years of customer service skills just to get someone cheaper? Is that really a good idea? Is that even remotely ethical?

While many Americans are living in poverty, corporate executives are granting themselves huge bonuses, even when their companies lose money. Why is it that corporations need to make more money with this type of abuse? Do these executives really need to keep lining their pockets?

Take care,
Troy

hurting in the short run - helping in the long run. very tough question to quantify.

Well it hurts when people loose their jobs and have to find different ones, but then the products come back much cheaper, so that even the poor can fill a basket at Walmart.
It is a sword that cuts both ways.
