Nope.
It is mearly a tax clasification.
No charitable organization can survive unless it makes a profit.
However, They do have limits on how much they can be in the red.
They cannot accumilate cash. They must spend it.

YES. According to the irs it's called a 501(c)3 status. Meaning they are not in business to conduct business for a profit to distribute to shareholders.

everyone that is in the red cross is a volunteer. they work for free. and if people didn't give them money and blood then they wouldn't be able to help others who are in need.
