We will never vote out the UAW! We are the UAW! And our contracts are fair and Balanced. We just allowed tons of concessions in the last contract to help the company be profitable its just going to take some time to reap the benefits (1-2 years).
The bailout(which should be called a loan) is an effort to bridge the gap.
People who don't think we are trying to help are completely clueless we in the last contract agreed to take retirees health care from the corporation, allowed new workers to be hired at half the rate.
The problem with the American auto industry isn't the UAWs Fault its;
(1) The governments, They have been throwing free trade deals around like nothing! We cannot compete when our cars are taxed sometimes up to 60% but typically around 20%, and it turn Theirs aren't at all!
Not to mention we buy versus them since 1980 japan has sold apx 40 million cars to America we have sold to them apx. 400,000.
(2) the American consumer, Americans have turned the back on the big three and they should be ashamed! The Big Three has been here for generations And to lose them because some pencil necked geek thinks a Corolla is better than a Chevy Malibu just on misconceptions makes me sick! Buy American used to mean something! If people used think about purchases and there affects down the road nowadays they just don't care! |

I doubt it. However, the UAW better come to its senses and realize that if they don't make some concessions that all of their workers will be out of a job. |

It really doesn't matter I am sure, they will stay as long as they get a free ride with all the extras and move on if it all ends.
The UAW has had a Mafia like strangle hold on the auto manufacturers for too long now and the auto prices are way too high for a normal worker.
It hurts the economy and may even cause more jobs to be lost to lower cost overseas workers if they don't see the light soon. |

You people don't get it, UAW is not the cause of their collapse! Heres a little how it works 101 for everyone. OK lets say Ford made 20 billion last year in sales(not a clue really) and you have to take out of that the wages of the workers (UAW) approximately 5% so that would be 1 billion, ok now that leaves 19 billion to pay execs, bills, loans, health care costs, add to pension plan, ETC.... So you see its not the UAW raping the company. There is plenty of money for them to put away but management blows it on bad deals, poor choices, UAW has no control on what the company spends this money on or what is engineered to meet customer standards and so on. The UAW simply has the power during contract talks to strike for pay that is relatively fair. It is totally the upper managements fault! If you worked in a Union you would know so if you don't and never had SHUT UP. Its people like you that talk and talk out of your A** and give the Unions a bad name!!!!!!!!!! |
