in response to last answer TPS (telephone preference service) is free to everybody, just call BT! In response to salesmen, i switched from Scottish Power/Gas to Npower by guy at door and my bills have HALFED! Thankfully I wasn't an ignoramus and took 30 seconds out of my life and listened! I'm sure that there will be people calling on doors and wasting their own time however if they believe that they have a viable solution to current rip-off with energy providers i'm here to listen. If someone else knocks my door and says and proves they'll do it cheaper then i'll switch! Tear yourself away from Emmerdale and save some money! |

I tell all unwanted salesmen and telesales people that I dont understand English and that I will get back to them when I know the language, that always gets rid of them.
A little tip as well, if you get bugged by people in the street asking you to answer a survey tell them that you dont speak Swedish, the look on their faces is priceless! watch out for the men in white coats though mind..... |

yeah i am. i hate the fact that they know where you live and try to get you to answer all sorts of tedious questions. you just feel like slamming the door in their face. though i do reply with ' thanks but we're not interested' and close the door afterwards. and what is it with these people from the gas and electricity board trying to make switch companies? you just want them to go away and leave you alone. and as for telesales people, my word, its bad enough when people turn up at your door but when you have people who know what your phone number is and ring you up asking you whether you want to buy this or that, or whether you're interested in buying their crappy product, you want to put the phone down. i know BT has a scheme where they are able to stop incoming sales calls from reaching your phone line, but you have to pay for something like this, which is not just ridiculous but stupid as well. |

The problem is not the people knocking on the door it is the fact that the system has meant that monopolies have been broken up with no thought as to the land grab for customers that would result. When the government privatised it should also have had the mechanism in place to ensure that essentials were handled properly ie single sources for information with a choice of suppliers being presented at once. Water is not a choice nor is electric or gas in most cases we need them to live. |

just go to www.utilitywarehouse.co.uk you can switch online and these guys are the cheapest for gas and electric always. You havent heard of them cos they dont spend much on marketing |
