As a manager how do you deal with an employee who tries to come on to you?
I have a new hire who hasn't even work for a full week, and he has already called my office to ask me out. Later that even when I got home he called my cell phone to apologize but then told me that he would continue trying. I want to just go ahead and fire him, but I'm tired of dealing with HR, as I have had all types of problems with my staff since working there, and I feel like they might see me as a problem by making a complaint. I love my job, it pays good money with great benefits, any suggestions?

Contact your district manager and ask there opinion, if they are no help or one is not available go to HR. If you do not address this ASAP he could go above your head and say you were the acting party and you were hitting on him. This is not something to take lightly! Be careful this wont end well if you ignore it.

you already have the proof - that person called you! Get your cell phone company to send you a copy of the call - keep track of any other calls this person makes to you. After a few calls, you'll have definite evidence of the problem. Then kick his butt out the door!

You are the manager of the establishment ans should be aware to the sexual harassment policy of your company. You need to tell that his conduct is not professional and not appropriate in the workplace. The most important thing is to DOCUMENT all encounters with person. If he continues, then you should fire him.

If you delay taking action the problem will only get worse. Tell him flat out that you do not date people from work and not to ask you again.

I would direct his attention to the employee manual and the section of sexual harassment. Then I would begine going through the steps, i.e. verbal warning, etc., with documentation on everything.

Just tell him no to the date and threaten his job over it. Tell him if he keeps asking you out, you'll have to go tell HR so you don't get in trouble over it, and they'll probably tell you to just let him go. You don't actually have to go to HR, but you do need to be sure he's aware you might, and that you are totally uninterested in him.

just tell him, 'look, this is very inappropriate and if it persists I will have to go to HR, and chances are you will lose your job.' and if he keeps on, then deal with HR or sue him for sexual harassment:)
