At this day and age, is SweatShop labor even necessary?
As an American I am appalled that we still contribute to the sweatshop labor around the world in various other countries. I never really though about things like this up until here recently and I really don't think it is necessary, therefore I am boycotting things made in them. I was curious as to what some other people's opinions were and if anyone found them necessary anymore. Thanks for your opinion :)

As long as there are greedy people and corporations, looking to lower the bottom line, making more money for themselves, without concern over how they do it, or whom is affected, there will always be people who are exploited.

And as long as there are places in the world where people are desperately poor, there will be available labor to exploit.

It was never necessary...

...except in the minds of greedy men (and women). As long as greed persists so will needless exploitation.

I'm sure the way the economy is today they can "rationalize" sweat shop use.

but it is really sad.
is there a link of all companies that produce items from sweat shops? i'd like to stop using them too.

I agree, I think that it is completely unnecessary, and that the people that are doing this only care about the money and themselves, and nobody else. I think this is the same way for people who make real fur coats and destroy the environment for their own satisfaction and money gain.

i feel sweatshops are wrong. but they can keep them going because us "The Americans are to damn lazy to do dirty work anymore. 30-40 years ago people would go out and pick apples, an cotton by hand, and stitch clothing stitch by stitch which brings me to illegal immigrants, there coming here and doing what the Americans wont do and they don't mind it. I feel its a 50/50 thing if you ask me. we wont do it so others will....
