Bank of America?
Anyone close thier account to find the bank left one open and you were charged for this. I now know 2 people this happened to.

Just my thoughts

Yes, this happened to me. When I closed my account, it was the 29th of the month. Later on I got a statement saying my account is not closed because I have $.01 in it. On top of that, they charged me monthly fee, thus bringing my account on a negative....what a rip-off, it took me so much time to clear this.

No, people make stupid assumptions like "if there is no money in the account, they will know I intend to close it" but that isn't correct. To close an account you have to go to the bank and ask for it to be closed. If you leave it open you will incur more charges.

I don't care for BOA. After I get my dad's estate settled, I'm taking what's left out of there.

Bank of America Sued Over "Keep the Change" Program
By Jeremy Simon

Bank of America is being sued by a Florida company over the bank's "Keep the Change" savings program.

Every Penny Counts Inc. is charging that BofA's savings program infringes on a patent obtained in 2000. Every Penny Counts stated that it spoke with Bank of America in 2004 and 2005 about licensing its "rounder patent." However, Bank of America launched "Keep the Change" on its own.

Under its "Keep the Change" program, BofA rounds up debit card purchases to the nearest dollar and deposits the extra amount into customers' savings accounts. According to a bank spokeswoman, 4.3 million BofA customers have saved $400 million through the program.
