For nearly 2 yrs now, they have been sending, via debt collectors, a letter to my housemate regarding a bill for the last 2 months of our tenancy in a property. We told them to cancel the service, they said ok, then didn't bother. The meter was broken, and as such they're claiming we owe them £1600. For 2 MONTHS! A crematorium won't use that much gas! Every time they contact her, she speaks to them, they say they'll sort it, they don't so she contacts them again. They then say it's fine, don't worry etc etc. and a few months later it starts over again. What can we do?? (I know what I'd like to do but that involves explosives and is highly illegal).

As an after note I urge any British Gas customers to switch providers immediately, even if you haven't had any problems it's only a matter of time, and this is the only way we can drive them out of our society, which is what they deserve.

Dels, I agree, I have done all that, no one I know is with british gas now, it takes so little effort; we just need to motivate people to pick up the phone.
