I agree that the capitalist system produces excesses. Three hedge fund managers made over $4.4 Billion last year, yet we have people that die over infected teeth because they cannot afford dental insurance. In extreme times such as the French Revolution, the poor cut off the heads of the rich. Bush does not give a damn he just give tax breaks and loop-holes to his rich buddies and spends money on wars like a crack fiend and saying how social security is going to be broke. Look at all the poor Wal-Mart workers that look like they just woke up from their car and their bad teeth. Yet the owners of Wal-Mart, the Waltons, are on the Forbes 100 list of richest people. 1% owns over 50% of the US while the bottom 20% own less than 1% and are all on the verge of bankruptcy. |

Well, if you are any indication of the 'average worker' then the sallary differentiation is certainly justified.
'frauds' ? Why this unsubstantiated slur
Salary levels are rarely determined by the AMOUNT of work one does, but the few CEO's that Ive met actually do seem to do more than the average worker. |

I don't condone the excessive payment to CEOs but look at the money that sports figures and movie actors make compared to CEOs. It is such a difficult position to keep the business profitable enough for stockholders and the keep employees happy with the pay. What is that ability worth??? |

If the CEO wasn't doing a good job then there wouldn't be any jobs for the "average person." Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream tried to limit the pay of their CEO and ended up almost going bankrupt. |

That's life kid, I work for a company who's business is setting up reliable machines, 8 workers set up and maintain equipment, we get about $50,000. The company went that well that CEO went from $280,000 to $1.4Mill in 5 years workers get 3% raise. |

Executives are paid for their ingenuity, leadership and vision. They are ultimately accountable for the entire corporation. It is a gross misconception that these guys do less than their subordinates. The bottom line is that our stock market and our economy relies on their decisions and judgment. I definitively do not want Joe from sales ultimately responsible for my stock investment. Do not make a generalization based on the corrupt few that are in the news. |

theres a saying my mom used to tell me when i was little. she would say "the smart, live by the stupid" meaning the smart person will find a way to make a living off of others hard work (the stupid). the smart and the stupid could start with the same economic status and the result would be that the smart would overcome struggles and succeed; the stupid would stay in the same level or even end up at a lower level. If you really think about it theres no reason for someone to complain. |
