I worked at fast foods when I was 14. That was in the 80's though. Our high school had a work program like OWE and such. They helped you get a job. It was fun but mine turned into a disaster. Too bad they don't have those now in school.

It is possible to have a job at 14, but the hours you are permitted to work are extremely restricted. A lot of companies will not hire under-16's because of the restrictions on type of work and hours that the state mandates. You should check with the stores in your area for their company policies.
For instance, McDonalds will usually hire at 14 if the state permits it (although since it's franchised, not all stores will), but Wendy's corporate policy is 16 (at least it was when I was a manager there...years ago).
