The Oregon Kid | Can FORD MOTORS be saved? |
After years and years of bottom rung cars, will Ford ever be able to sell cars again or will they be reduced to a light truck manufacturer? |
|

?

Trucks I think.
They make more money off those |

My brother works as a sales manager for a Ford dealership. He makes over $100,000 a year...
It's crazy...but It doesn't look like Ford's going out of business anytime soon.
PS: I love my new Ford! |

They can be saved, look at Nissan. 10 years ago they were on life support, now they are one of the top brands. Ford just needs a serious shift in mentality. Other than the Mustang, Ford has no inspiring cars in their lineup. They need to get back to the drawing board and come up with some good passionate designs! Be American damnit, stop trying to create American made Japanese cars. Look at the 300c, it's big, it's powerful, it's arrogant and it's an absolute homerun! |

Bottom rung cars? Are you loopy or are you some kind of creep? Do you have any awareness of how ALL US automakers have been hogtied and bound by the unions? Foreign carmakers in the 70's, fearing protectionist measures, built manufacturing plants in the USA, but they have NO unions, no 401ks except outside. The US government could not force them to unionize and with the US automakers paying top healthcare costs, pensions, and unions, it is a miracle that there is ANY US automakers left. The only option for Ford and GM were to build manufacturing facilities offshore themselves to get away from our own anti-American manufacturing workforce. Try to take any benefits away from a US autoworker and he'll sooner let the company go bankrupt before they give up any benefits. Ford is NOT a bottom rung car manufacturer. They will survive and flourish besides your intellectually handicapped view of why you consider them "bottom rung"..., kind of like your intellect. |

they're gonna be reduced to being a unit of Toyota if they are lucky. If not, they will end up kaput.
the days of glory for American industry is OVER...long OVER. GM, Ford need to be sold to someone stronger like Crysyler was.
oh and trucks? Ford makes lousy trucks, everyone I know drives a Toyota truck. |

Don't count out Ford Motor Company. Henry Ford's corporation went through a world war and was able to adjust and reinvent itself. But it seems today, its more likely they merge much like Mercedez/Chrylser did.
Even their trucks are not much more potent to Titan/Tundra/Tacoma sales. Who are building plants in Indiana/Texas areas (highest domestic truck sale regions).
If they (Ford) wish to really achieve any significance against Toyota and new Chinese companies. GM/Ford will need to unite. However, war is more likely to occur, and our Department of Justice would never allow this monopoly to operate.
The unions are not exactly the whole problem. It still has to do more with the vehicle than anything else. Maybe a few corporate salary is questionable as well. But just as the muscle era was the golden age of U.S. automobiles, Japan has been going through one of its own. Muscle era cars were known to be well built with a certain old world charm.....
Japan's cars are not just appealing cosmetically, but they are truly manufactured with precision, hence the Camry's reliability or the S2000's high RPM tolerance. Aluminum blocks, double wishbone suspensions, fuel economy/performance ratio, pricing. About the only negative has been in the stolen department. Even that department is on fire.
Let's see if Ford can produce a 4 four wheel drive, twin turbo, double wishbone suspension that rivals a Nissan Skyline in a 3.0liter configuration that still sports 30mph freeway with supposedly 280-320hp on tap. That should reinvigorate the public sentiments. Sabaru WRX, Mitsu Lancer are examples of this workable concept.
Your product has to be better than your competitors not just your price. Sure the GTO is nice, but HKS(Shelby) owner has quad-turbo Nissan Skyline pumping out 1200hp on four wheels. Muscle era is gone? No it just went overseas and so did the sales and the quality. |
