I ordered a CD off of the internet (not at walmart.com). It's the wrong CD. It's a gift and I don't have time to return it to the internet store. Wal-Mart carries this same CD. Is it possible for me to return the CD at Wal-Mat and get the correct one? Would the barcode flip out when they scanned it since I didn't buy the item there? |

technically that's fraud, but... it's wal mart poilcy that you can return stuff without a receipt. so yes you can...
when you return things without a receipt, you can only get store credit back. although they might not have the same cd or the barcode may not match the cd that they have, so in turn, that could mean you can't do it..
so it's really a flip of a coin.. go ahead and try it, you won't get in trouble for trying. |

You can take it to Wal-Mart, but without a receipt you will get a gift card at the lowest price they ever sold that CD for. The barcode should be the same, but if it's not and they say, "This wasn't bought here," just take it back and say, "Sorry, I thought it was." and leave. No one is going to chase you out of the store or anything. |

I think they will probably accept it. You have to show your driver's license to return something without a receipt. |

No, you can't return something to a completely different store. It's got nothing to do with barcodes - it's got to do with INVENTORY. |

Barcodes are the same no matter where you buy. You can return it anywhere but most stores will only give you a store card without the receipt, and only credit you with the amount they are selling it for. |

No, when you return merchandise to a business they scan the bar code and verify it with their own inventory and it will not match what you have. |

The bar codes are all the same regardless of what store.
You can try to return it to Walmart, just tell them it was a gift but the wrong c.d. and ask if you can just exchange it for the c.d. you wanted. |
