It's not illegal if that's what you mean. In some organisations it is frowned upon. |

Provided there is no clause in your works contract, or you might be in danger of loosing your jobs! |

Some companies will have rules about this.
If you are looking at playing the field at work this would be highly unadvisable.
If you have someone particular in mind my advice would be to discuss the matter with your superiors or human resources. If the employee in question is a direct report they may want to move him/her under the authority of a different manager, or recuse yourself from any decisions that will benefit the employee in question personally (eg pay rises, promotions, bonuses).
Many people meet thier future spouses through work so obviously there cannot be blanket rules against colleagues dating. The best thing to do is be open and honest with your company about it. |

yes ~
it used to be pretty up tight
but nowday thease policys are not so .. annoying ..
but still you should double check on those policys ...
i don't understand why ppl say its unethical ...
define what's so wrong about it ... we are ultimately human .. just cuz they date doesn't mean they can't act professional in workplace...i think that's just being prejudice .. |

Yes - It's not a good idea though.
There are a lot of things that could go wrong |

yes, but you may have to check with your HR/personnel officer if there are likely to be any conflicts on interest (ie, if you could potentially promote that person) |

no it is not ethical, you will have to quit your job. |

You could, but you'd also be in for a lot of flack. People would be saying you'd get by with anything as you are a favorite, brown-nosing or just plain ignore you. Where I work there are many couples working, but they have to be in different departments or shifts.
The 2 of you must decide if your career is worth the possibility of losing a lasting relationship by spending too much time together or the possibility of both being terminated. |

They can but it's a stupid idea. You should never fish in the company pond and as a superior there are ethical issues at hand also. |

In America anyone can date anyone they want. A Manager should not date their employee simply because it's unwise to date someone you work with, especially someone you have to supervise. It will cause problems in the future and businesses know this, that's why they usually frown upon hiring related individuals.
Can they? - It's a free country, it's your choice.
Should they? - No, unless they are willing to give up their job for that person. |

Only if the manager has no direct supervisory position over that employee. Consult you personel office/director. |

No.
Well, I mean, you can, it's just not a good idea. If the manager were to break up with an employee, then fire them for not doing their job properly, it could be worked into a harrassment suit like *that*. It's also really never a good idea to mix business and pleasure- it puts a lot of unnecessary strain on a relationship. |

Yes they can, been there and done it and the company didn't mind.
Not recommended for everyone though as most companies do tend to frown upon it. |

By "Date your employees" I imagine that you mean:
a. Guess how old they are.
b. throw dates at them.
Otherwise, No. |
|

Yes they can but it leaves you WIDE open to sexual harassment lawsuits if it falls apart and the other is bitter. It would be your word against theirs and you will lose.
I did it once but I made her sign a sheet that she was a willing participant first. |

Of course yes.
If the question were "Is it SMART for managers to date thier employees" of course the answer would be no - it is just asking for a disaster. |

They can but there is a risk of one of you losing thier jobs as most companies do not like it . Keep it under wraps. |
