Full time employment is usually 38 or more hours a week, and is a 52 week a year job in most cases.
Then there are seasonal employees, liek the ones that work for christmas, or the holidays.
Then there are temp employees, that do fill in work or work for 1 month or less on average.

Temporary workers are normally for one year or less, and usually do not qualify for company health benefits and pay raises. The period of time is to try you out to see if they really want to keep you around after the probation period. Then once you become permanent you get all the fringe benefits the company has to offer including medical, 401K, perodic raises, promotions. Most government workers start out as temporary or probationary status and after one year they are converted to permanent status, and then it is very hard to fire you, you have rights. Temporary workers have no rights, they can fire you for no reason at all. |

Hi :0) (I hope I understand you question correctly) A temp employee is basically not gaurenteed a job or hours. Usually there is a probation period that has to pass while you are a temp and if the company likes you and your work then they have the option of hiring you as a full time employee once the probation time has passed. When you are a temp usually there are no benefits offered to you at that time and only when you become a FULL TIME employee are there benefits extended to you and sometimes you have to be full time for a certain amount of time before you would qualify for the company's benefits. I think you've answered your own question.
A temp employee is hired for a specified period of time for a special project or to cover for an absent employee. A temp employee generally does not have benefits like paid holidays, insurance, education re-imbursement, etc. A temp employee is as a rule not subject to raises or bonuses, and may be paid an entry level wage as opposed to the same wage of the individual she's covering for.
A temp employee does have the benefit of federal and state regulations regarding hours worked, breaks and overtime.
The temp employee may eventually become a permanent employee, but the temporary employment period does not count as tenure. |

I think you answered yourself. A temporary worker is only hired for a specified amount of time, hence the definition of temporary. That is the only difference. One is long term, or permanant and the other is temporary. What don't you understand? |

A temp is not offered company benefits, and the job will come to an end...it's temporary....you will not be offered anything extra.
A full time regular employee would be entitled to benefits, like insurance, 401K, vacation, sick days, paid holidays or whatever is offered by the company.
Your question was a bit vague...I'm not really sure what you needed to know...so I hope this helps you. |
