Can my boss fire me for this?
My boss was in another department for a few days and I wanted a leave for reasons other than illness. So I did not inform her, I was going to but I got late doing that and she phoned me mid-day to ask where I was.I explained and she was really wild that I had taken a leave without informing her.
She doesnt like me and now I am redundant for the company, can she fire me using this as an excuse?

Being the first time, I don't think your boss will go for that harsh decision. What stopped you from informing your boss?? It is a rule & ethics at office to inform the boss & get their approval.

Job abandonment is a legitimate reason to fire you on the spot. Anyone would be fired, your boss would lose her job too if she just decided she did not feel like coming in and did not tell her boss.

Yes she can fire you for abandoning your job, actually she can treat it like you quit if she wanted to since you walked off the job without informing anyone.

If you told the assistant manager,or your supervisor then no, she has no right to do that, but if you did not then sorry yes.

Do you know if you work in a "right to work state" such as CA or FL? In these states both employeers and employees can terminate the employment "contract" for ANY reason, they don't even technically have to have a reason.
That's how I understand it, but I may be wrong. If I were you I would start looking for a new job and consider it a lesson learned.

yes she can fire you for not letting her know that you would be absent . if your " few days" were three or more daysthen you abandoned your job and it is as if you quit

Don't worry Pal, all you deserve is a warning. Being absent for a day can lead to your layoff, only if she was searching for a reason. I hope you don't have that bad previous record. All will be cool in few days. Be calm, just say "Sorry" :)
