Why was it illegal for AT&T many years ago to have a monopoly but its not illegal for a cable company to do that? This is ridiculous in the US we are a capitalist society yet cable we never have the opportunity to shop around to get the best rate their is no competition, thus you get lack luster service and continued raise in rates removing the customer from being the most important. Any one know any thing besides Satellite that could change this?
Cancel your subscriptions, use that money to buy some books, or help out an elderly person in your area! You'll soon not miss the endless mind-numbing banter that is infecting your mind and causing you to un-knowingly want to go spend your money on useless junk! -Love you Comcast!!!

I am glad you mention this subject. Perhaps you could address your letter to congress it may be more productive than yahoo answers. Good point though!!

You'll see a big change in February when people can get a signal without an antenna.
In rural places people depend on cable - no matter how poor they are. I hope cable companies lose a chunk of their business.

It is not really a monopoly. There are many cable companies across the US. The problem is that they all only service a limited area. The cost to lay cable is prohibitive to expand nationwide.

Maybe someday their will be more wireless broadband vendors, like the Satellite companies.
