I agree with Vince S on this one. It has "scam" written all over it. If you received an email stating that they have money in the bank waiting for you and all you have to do is help them out with what amounts to laundering, then it's a scam. This is an old and insidious Nigerian money scam. DO NOT FALL FOR IT!
www.snopes.com will give you all the information you need on email hoaxes and virus warnings.
By the way, I read a story in the Reader's Digest about 2 years ago. This man received an email from the President of the Bank of Nigeria. The gist of the letter was they had $2 million with his name on it if he would just do a simple currency exchange thing. The guy was in dire straits financially, and was desperate. So he responded to the email. He figured it was worth a shot. That was all the hook the Nigerian scammers needed. The guy was hooked, and they reeled him in with contingency after contingency. He finally was required to withdraw $5000 of his own money, fly to Nigeria, and meet with the "President of the Bank." When he got there, he was greeted by thugs with machine guns who threatened to kill him if he didn't give over his money, get back on the plane and fly back to the U.S. This is a true story.
Do yourself a favor and just delete the email, if that's where you came by this question. Just keep in mind, anything that sounds too good to be true, most often IS. |
