not certain for walmart specifically, but every gift card i've ever used was good only for purchases in that store. even if you buy something and return it, you won't get cash back, you'll only get store credit.

Your best bet would be to either ask someone to buy it off of you or use it to order things online if you don't go there that often. You absolutely canNOT get cash back from any gift card.
