Charity shops Edinburgh? I was shocked at the rip off prices of donated items! Have you found this in others?
I was looking at jeans and tops priced at H&M new look prices etc. new! I was absolutely appalled! They were even asking like 4 quid a book etc.

They lost out on about 10-20 quid of My money whick I would of normally spent.

Why do they do this? Surely they would make more money for the charity with 2 quid an item instead of 10 quid a pair of second hand jeans?!!

i usd to shop at the charity places in Rhyl and found them to have lots of good bargains...but in edinburgh it was pretty disgusting what they were trying to charge!

Prices in Edinburgh, along with probably all other UK cities, are silly - of course, that is probably because everyone in Edinburgh (and the like) earns mega wages, so £4 for a second hand book is nothing! LOL. If only everyone DID earn mega wages!

It is a bit silly - you can get brand new jeans for £10 (I've even seen them new for £3), they may not be trendy designer but they do the job. So £10 for second-hand, I wouldn't pay that!

I don't think it's just Edinburgh. So many of the big charity shop's employ manageresses in the shop, and the directors have big salaries. A few years ago I moved home and the kids were at school, I volunteered in a Oxfam shop, ans was horrified that the manageress was paid, and never came into the shop, she sat up stairs with a volunteer (friend) and sorted the donated goods out. A lady came in and handed a very ornate tea set to me, I took it through to the manageress, and it didn't appear in the shop that week.
My sister loves craft and antique fairs, 3 weeks after the lady handed it in, it was on a stall at a antique sale, and the stall holder was ???? yes you guessed it the manageress. Maybe selling 60 miles away she thought she was safe.
I left and have since worked at a local charity shop for a dogs home, and its all done properly and at sensible prices.

Ive found that as well, one near me is charged more for second and stuff than you could buy it new for.

Although I have to say many don't. Depends what your looking for. Pair of Diesel jeans set me back a whole six quid. And the label was still on them!
I love a bargain!!

I only use charity shops when I am looking for really cheap clothes to wear when doing dirty manual labour. And then I take the clothes back afterwards.
