DARK HORSE | Cigarette (fag) breaks? ? |
People in my office go out every 15-20 mins for a fag break, while the rest of us non-smokers get on with our work. Do you think this right? I mean... what I MEAN is, they have an excuse to go out for 5 maybe 10 mins at a time regularly, while I (and others) can't. I would love a break every 15 mins, that would be sweet! (I do smoke when im pissed and stressed but never every day or at work etc).
Maybe I should take up smoking..

My Dad had this same concern several years ago. He bought a bubble pipe, and would go out with the smokers and stand there blowing bubbles. The company got the hint and limited the "unscheduled breaks". |

I would speak to your boss or start to take breaks for "fresh air" because all the people around you stink! |

Take a grievance out. Why is the company allowing this to happen?

no don't i smoke and i rue the day that i started the people you work with smoke way too much by the sounds of things have you thought about just getting up and going for a 10 minute break when you fancy and if any1 says anything then tell them its not fair the smokers go out regularly |

One 15min break in the morning and one in the afternoon, where you ALL have a break including the smokers.
They should not be going out every 15-20mins for one! Complain to your office manager it's not fair on you and the other non smokers. |

Sounds like they are taking advantage. Most employers only allow 2 15 minute breaks & a longer lunch break.
I really don't think starting to smoke is so good.
You could cause a riff about it by taking as many breaks as they do. Take a book or magazine out with you say you're addicted to reading & can't concentrate on your job without the fix. Just don't take any longer than they do & if asked about it by a boss just explain you thought it was ok because of all the smoke breaks the smokers are taking. They'll get the point & you'll probably lose any smoking friends you have.

that's funny... you can work and do this at the same time? Do you have like two keyboards and two monitors? And you can focus one eye on one monitor and one eye on the other.? And you can type with one hand on one keyboard, and one on the other??? Are you like some kind of ninja or something? You are a far better employee than I am...I'm only capable of doing one thing at a time. When I want to browse the Internet, I have to stop working.
Common, face it... You slack off just as much as they do, you just hide it better becuase you never have to get up from your computer.
