Circuit City filed for bankruptcy. Thoughts and do you like shopping there?

Im freaky jumping for joy. And no that's not me being sarcastic. I used to work for them, they were one of the worst places to work for. Little does anyone know they played favorites, tried there best to not offer full time and benefits. (someone I knew worked there for 9 years and finally got full time and benefits) They did absolutely no training on products and didn't care to hire any with the knowledge. Then they decided to fire the people that did know what they were talking about. Not to mention they didn't care about products. I've seen the operations they throw around things like hard drives, mp3 players, etc. In addition they are a copy cat store. Whatever bestbuy did they had to copy their idea. Big example Geek Squad and Firedog. Though they can still come back from chapter 11, I am at least happy that the store I worked at is one of those 155 closing hahahahaha.

No i rarely buy there Best Buy usually beat them in competition when i think of electronic My mind automatically thinks best buy and personally next in line is Radio Shack.

That is a terribly ran company. They've been failing consistently at customer service. Let's hope they go under.

Circuit City deserves to go bankrupt.

No, I don't like shopping there. They have a terrible service department and very rarely honor their warranties.

Hello(:
Well, I guess they could never beat out Best Buy. I didn't really like shopping at Circuit City anyway.

Evey
No, I have never liked Circuit City at all.

At one time Circuit City was a fun place to shop and work. A couple years ago, they instituted new employment guidelines which resulted in either the firing or quitting of their most experienced employees.
They did a good job building a brand name but forgot their own recipe of success along the way.

Well well...

I used to work at Circuit City back in 2001-2003. That was the time when Circuit City could keep up with, even though couldn't beat, Best Buy. Why? Because even though Best Buy was more appealing visually and had better operation, Circuit City countered with the "knowledgeable" sales people. That's right, CC sales reps were on commission. We had to be knowledgeable about the products, had to get familiar with products, and had to push the sales. We had motive and desire to push the product out of the store. I've had a bunch of people who flee from Best Buy because of the idiots who work there who couldn't tell them the difference between USB and Firewire ports.

Then, one fine Wednesday morning, all sales employees were called in. We were laid off on the spot. They got rid of commission and moved towards hourly-paid sales reps. They wanted to be a gimped version of Best Buy.

People who made LESS than $15 an hour got to stay. But those people, year or two later, were laid off as well.

From that point on, I've always hated CC. The only advantage they had over Best Buy was vanished. At that time they tried to offer the "new" employee's stocks, telling them how awesome it would be, etc. (Honestly, I feel rather bad for those people who bought CC stock now ha ha). Their stock began to drop after the last of knowledgeable people were laid off to make spots for "cheaper" newer people.

So now, let's say your area have both Best Buy and Circuit City stores. Where would you rather shop? Best Buy, a store that's more visually appealing, better-trained hourly-paid people, vast selection of products? Or Circuit City, a pretty much the watered-down version of... Best Buy?

They really shot themselves in the foot and decided to cover bullet hole with bandage. Infection from that wound now eats them alive. Bye bye Circuit City!!

To sum it all up, I got to words for Circuit City: Good Riddance

I liked it better when the building was shaped like a plug, and they had that commercial with the "plug" falling from the sky into the building.

But I prefer Best Buy or HH Gregg.
