Well the umbrella was once the symbol for Citigroup that was actually from Travlers. About 9 - 10 months ago Citi sold Traveler to Metlife and a month later the umbrella went with them. Anything that still has the umbrella is suppose to be out of discontinued and needed to removed. What can they do that any other company do? Basically the same things sometimes cheaper, sometimes a better product, sometimes not. There are so many different things that Citi does it is differcult to explain all of it. Citigroup consist of 40 - 50 different companies. |

Heartache and pain. Citibank moved out of New York to Fargo ND simply because they found out that they could charge their customers higher APR numbers. If that wont't keep you away, Japan, a place known for their kind and polite demeanor cited Citigroup as one of the worse investing companies to do business with.
My advice is stay as far away from Citgroup as possible. |

You're hitting at a good point. The answer is not very simple. They offer a united intent. They're good at broad strategy. What they offer is good for 'them', not for 'you'. They're good at attracting you, they know what you want and know what you do and don't do. This is especially relevant in credit cards, they know how to get you to sign up, and know how to get you to pay interest.
The "umbrella" is a symbol that offers a helping hand in troubling conditions. What it means in the business sense is a broad unification of business entities and goals. The first is the image that they wish to portray. But in doing so, they bring up the analogy of the opportunistic devil, preying on the weak. To me, they are simply a hot stove, a passive force that moths are driven towards. |
