I hope you didn't open it. If it doesn't have your name on it, that's against the law. Simply write 'not at this address, return to sender' on it and drop it in the mail. |

From a strictly legal standpoint you are not under any obligation to do anything. Since the letter was not addressed to you, you should have not opened it but should have written across the front "not at this address" and returned it to the post office.
Several of the other answers given will have put you in the middle of a situation that is neither your responsibility or obligation to become involved in. |

I would contact them and state who you are and that you have been living here for 6 yrs and how did they put your another person name on your address then i would do a free credit report and make sure no one soled your address or your identity. |

You should open the letter and call the agency and tell them that you have not heard of the person. I have had the same problem. You are OK though as the debt is to the person and not the address now.
If you dont do it they will continue writing to you and if the person has other debts then they will all write to you. Not a problem just a pain in the *** |
