It looks like my wife's employer, Goody's Clothing Outlet, is going to be liquidated. She wants to know what will happen to her vacation time, and if the company doing the liquidating will use their own people, or the people already employed at the store.
Basically, will she go to work, and be locked out? She is the Assistant Manager.
Additional Details
Goody's has not sad a word about liquidating yet. They are doing an all storer invintory on wednesday which includes racks, maniquins, everything in the store, not just murchindice. She has talked to her Reginal Manager, but has gotten nowhere. |

That is a question to ask her employer. They must pay her accumulated sick and vacation pay. It is possible that a liquidation company would hire their own employees, she could possibly apply with them. |

In my case it meant I lost everything. Mainly because their wasn't enough liquidity to do anything. If no union, it may be up in the air. And will also determine whether bankruptcy is filed.
In Texas you can file with the Workforce commission for back pay and benefits as soon as you lose the job. I would do it ASAP in your state the same day. |

About the only thing for sure in this situation is that the company will do as it pleases and no one individual will be able to afford to sue them to change anything.
Remember unions?
Also, even though Goody's might liquidate, they are not actually liquidating the employees.
C'mon, you might as well laugh, you can't do anything about it. Shine up your resume' and start making phone calls. Don't give up, something good will eventually come your way. |

She will be sacked and may be eligible for some kind of redundancy or severance pay. THe liquidators usually use existing staff and they will be paid at their normal rates. |

I'm not trying to be cutesy, but if she truly is the Assistant Manager, she should have all those answers, or at least know who to contact to obtain the answers. Of course, if she just has the title, but not the actual position with assistant manager duties and responsibilities, she may not know who to turn to.
But, surely, someone in that organization should be able to answer her questions better than Those of us on this forum who know nothing about her store or her chain of command.

It depends on the company's plans if they will relocate your wife or just let you go. When I left keebler in 95 I lose all my investment with them however. I was given a fair departing package or "severance" package that was about 66 percent of my total investment. I would ask the upper management ceo,coo, what they are planning to do this seems weird however if you listen you will get the direction they are wanting to go. In other words if your wife calls or see's them just ask what are their plans see if there is opening in other stores or if they own other company's that they would be willing to go to. Seeing where upper management goes helps it did with me at lease I knew what wasout there for me if I wanted to relocate or leave. I hope all goes well with you all this year. |
