Contract says 40 hours but company only given me 24 hours do they still have to pay me for 40 hours?
Not at all. the PAYE system is exactly what it means. Paid as you earn. If you havn't worked 40 hours then you havn't earnt 40 hours pay.

I suspect somewhere in the contract it says "the Company reserves the right to alter/reduce/increase the contracted hours without notice" etc.. or words to that effect. You need to go through the contact thoroughly, I doubt they would be caught out....
Sorry.

Only if it specifically states that you will be paid for 40 hours, whether or not you work all 40 hours.
nikki
yes only if in contract it says pay for 40 hours
no if it says pay for hours completed
gavmel259
No they don't. They are only enforced to pay you for the hours worked.

read your contract first when it is the other way round that is annoying i was on a contract that said 50 hours a week job and finish there was about 150 on this contract they said it worked out average problem was 20% was doing 6 hours a day some doing the average then a few of us doing well above the average like 60 hours a week the 20% was there mates

Do you have a union? No? Well then they can do as they wish, and probably will fire you if you push the issue. Good luck. Peace.
