You don't mention shareholder value in your list, but in most corporations I am familiar with (including the one I work for), that is the only value that seems to matter these days. |

This a tricky one as it deals with human emotions versus wants and needs. Corporate values are basically a set of guidelines that pretty much say "this is how we operate around here". So in that case I would give you the answer as number 4 - observing others around you.
However, if the person at the top does not follow the values and they are simply there to look good or because they have always been there then you will notice the gap between what is said and what is done.
If you are unsure about your place just watch people for a while and you will soon see, especially management - middle and above and that will paint a very clear picture. |

Corporate values are a combination of 2 and 4. An organization, to get more general than just a corporate setup, aspires to operate on certain values it determines to be core to its identity. Those values are determined, communicated (possibly thru seminars) and integrated into the culture in a variety of ways. I've seen where the annual reviews and dvelopment plans of all the workers were broken up into categories to match the values.
Now values tend to be be gloppy words, and open to much interpretation. So how one group runs with those values and how another one does may be drastically different depending on the region, the age of the group, the values themselves, the success of the integration of the values, many factors. |
