Customer say the cashier short changed her $100,what shld the cashier tell her?

The situation makes no sense because the largest denomination bill is $100. So what did the customer buy and how did the customer pay? If by credit card did they expect cash back and they would have counted it. If by cash they would have given several hundred dollar bills to pay and would be getting change back less than $100 so their claim is not valid.

I hope this helps or I'm beginning to lose it

shut down the line, count her drawer to see!

He should take her name and number - and say its policy that they wait until the end of the day when the books are figured - if they are over $100 - or close to it. - then they will call them.
**had a bank do this to me once - yep, they short changed me and I got it back.

Take her name and phone number. Tell her she will have to wait until you balance your cash at the end of the day. If you are $100.00 over, you will call her. But also let the manager in on this conversation.

The cashier should assume that she made a mistake, and apologize to the customer for the inconvenience. Call over a manager, allow the customer to explain the issue, and the manager will count the drawer down right there. If it's $100 over, then he'll give the customer her money back, if not, then she's full of it.

As a cashier, you should never express your own opinion in the matter.

Have manager count down the drawer right there right now!

The cashier should call the manager over to recount the till in front of the customer. They will find out if it is over by $100 or if the amount is correct. If the customer isn't willing to wait or is bullying the cashier it could be a scam.

Ummmm. I can see giving back a dollar short, or giving her a 5 that was accidentally placed in the 10s section.

Does the customer really think that the acashier would miss an entire $100? And does she expect anyone to believe that she walked away $100 short and did not notice until later?!?!?!!?

Easy fix, ask the manager to cash out the drawer and see if it is $100 over.

She should take the customers name and phone number and tell her if her till is over that day she will call her. Unless the customer hasn't had the money out of the teller's site there isn't a way to tell if it is true. If you did short them and figure it out you will return the money. If not she may find it in her purse later. The only thing you shouldn't do is call the customer a lier.

Heather Z
First thing first is to recount the change. To make sure she did not make a mistake. If that still not settle the lady down have your manager come over and recount the change. Being off a $100 it must be a check. Right? She probably missed counted when you were handing out her money.
