DHL vs Federal Express?
My company is trying to decide between using DHL and Federal Express for our local shipping. Of course each company is going to tell me that they are better, so I want the opinions of people out there who may actually have experience with both. Which is cheaper? Which do you like better and please include a why!

DHL and FedEx are both good delivery services. As a much smaller company, DHL has a tendency to miss delivery dates under high volumes. Their performance around the holidays is not as good as FedEx. Also, DHL does not deliver on Saturdays to many areas (even in metropolitan areas), so if your business need Saturday delivery (or for customers to get Saturday receipt) you may want to go with FedEx. UPS is also very good, by the way. Good luck.

Fed Ex has been around longer and is better known, but all the major private shippers are competitive. They have to be, to remain in business. They all charge about the same, and all their policies are about the same.

DHL. Federal Express's employees have a callous disregard and often abuse packages, open them, and steal things. the rates are very similar given the intense competition on the free market, especially for local shipping, so the extra care of the packages combined with the negligible differences in rates means DHL should be your choice. rates can also be negotiated. also, it should be noted, I once had something shipped via Fed Ex, the package was worth $500 and it never made it to me. I had to eat the cost.

to me, fedex is more accessible. I think their prices are pretty close though. and as far as a package making it to places in a timely fashion, fedex seems to be better. but my company uses both and our DHL lady is super nice, so who knows.

Fedex and UPS are equally as good and are by far the best. DHL is not quite as reliable. You can negotiate your rates with all of them, but it's directly tied to volume. I'm in the collection industry so we have checks overnighted to us daily. We've been in business for 8 years and we've used all of the couriers. Fedex and UPS have consistently outperformed DHL/Airborne. Hope this helps you, good luck with your business.
