psychologist | Did Yahoo! Answers steal my idea or am I delusional? Read and decide.? |
I wrote the following to Yahoo in 26 May, 2006 and then in June 13, 2006 (18 days later), they launch "Ask the Planet" in which "online users ... help answer the world's biggest questions from celebrities, world-renowned authorities, and Yahoo! users".
This, in part, is what I had written to them:
"...I would like acknowledgement for my idea, however. Give me the credit of having suggested it originally, for I believe it has the potential to become a global brain, an organized network of people connecting with each other like neurons to think together to create ever better solutions to problems. In fact this would be revolutionary. The internet is not organized. However, an opportunity for dialogue around questions can be organized. You can even have great scientists suggest questions in each field. They will be the leading open questions in each area of inquiry. This would be in parallel to questions from individual inquiring minds. The internet is a mass of thinking minds wai |

doubt it.
if you really thought you were onto something big, you should have contacted a patent atty, not yahoo. in order to get credit for it you would need a working mock-up.
what? not a programmer? learn. haha....
though, i bet it took a lot longer than 18 days to develop yahoo answers.
yup :) |

To be honest, I'm leaning towards the latter choice. |

I think you need to get over yourself. This is not a new, or even novel idea. Many people have suggested this type of global forum in the past, and there are even similar things written in many sci-fi and other books from before the internet days.
And even if an idea like that did originate from you, proving it would be pretty much impossible to a court. So basically do not expect any kind of compensation or credit in the near future for this idea.
All that being said, keep up the quest for furthering humanity ;P |

They had thought of it long before you have. Otherwise, it would have taken them A LOT longer than 18 days to come up with all of this stuff. Good try, though. |

I'm a crazy rabbit squirrel!

I would like to see a competing website with a Question/Answer forum.
I don't like how Yahoo removes content and censors free intercourse. It's a violation of the inalienable human right to free speech.
What would it take to start one? |
