Did my "boss" have the right to do this?
I work part-time at In-N-Out Burger as a level 1 Associate.
And my boss told me to go home because I didn't say "Thank you " to the customers as I handed them their food. His reason for doing so was I didn't appreciate the customers and that he told me 3 times to.
He made it sound like I was defying him for not saying it because it was EXTREMELY busy. And he doesn't understand that it's hard to keep in mind when others are ordering you around also.
Do you that's a legitimant reason to cut off my hours? I kept my cool and was professional about it as he bit my head off.
I believe I am a very hard worker, but I get criticized for my shortcomings when I'm even doing my best.
I didn't think it was fair, so when I went home, I called up the company and filed a report. Anything else I can do?
I also tried talking to my boss and we fussed over it, and we left on a bad note though. I stormed off, saying "Thank you, have a nice day." In a non-chalant way.
yes your boss had the right to send you home for not following orders. The company you are getting paid from has the right to determine what you say and how you say it to their customers. If you don't like the rules don't play the game.

He could be trying to get you to quit. You can put up with him or try to find a new job.

sounds like you made things worse with your childish rant. give your notice, work on your ethics, and learn from this experience. get a good education so that you don't have to work a minimum wage job for the rest of your life.
