Lets say you have 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shift. Do 3rd shift workers deserve more money? Why?

In addition, I work WED THUR (2nd shift) FRI SAT (3rd shift) so how can people that work 9-5 think that people that work those hours dont deserve more money? How would you like giving up your whole wkend! And trying to sleep during an 80 degree day when everyone is at the pool or beach or festivals asking you to go but you can't?! |

If the jobs are the same, no matter what shift it is done, then the pay should be equal. It really should not make any difference what time of the day the work is done. |

I feel that third shift workers DO deserve a differential for putting up with the fact that they are, in effect, forced to live on a different timeline than the rest of the world. |

YES, I'm a nurse on night shift and it is difficult to get people to work night shift. If there are people willing to do it they should get a little extra for it. It's very difficult to work at night and sleep during the day. The rest of the world seems to think that just because your at home during the day(trying to sleep) you're available, and I don't mean people who don't know your schedule but the people WHO DO! (Family, friends etc.) |

I get paid more for the night shifts. At my job I work shift work and get and extra $1 / hour for nights. Honestly I don't think that's enough to justify screwing up your schedule and not having normal hours. My job already pays enough to make it worth it so the $1 is a plus, but alone would not be worth it. My favorite shift was the second shift then day shift. My least favorite is nights. |
