it almost always IS monitored. and no, they dont have to tell you. its their computers and their network so they can do what they want with it.
usually, you dont need to worry about your identity being stolen or anything like that. they are more monitoring improper usage of their computers. |

if you are using their computers they do not have to tell you anything..it is there property..if you are talking about accessing your banks web site from home....then it is a good thing they do monitor it to help from spamming |

The company owns the computers. Any work you create on a company computer belongs to the company. Most companies monitor -- why would they want to get nailed for kiddie porn or someone sending off company financial figures, project plans? The list goes on concerning all the reasons they do monitor. |

I guess you are talking about the network in your job.
why you people think that only because you work there, you can deo personal things with them.??????
of course they are monitired, the computers are to do your job, not for personal use.
if you have to do your bank on line, get a computer and do it at home~. they do not have to tell you anything. |

remember anything that is not yours is theirs they don't need to tell you!
but most companys will tell you that your being watched really they have no proxy set up to watch you so it's more of scare tacket!
the ones who don't say anything i would be carefull with! |

Only if you ask. You should always assume this is the case. At any rate, they look for evidence that you're visiting adult websites or otherwise goofing off while you're supposed to be working. They're not interested in your financial information. If you're worried, access your bank's website at home. I would never do that on a non-private computer. |

Why would they have to inform any employee that they are monitoring their own property? The bank has its own security system to protect your private information. A better question to ask is "How do I live my life when no one is watching?" |

Well, the company OWNS the equipment, so I can do whatever it wants with it and they probably don't HAVE to tell you anything. Most do, however. If you agreed to an employee code of conduct I would imagine the IT policy is in there somewhere. If you work for a major corporation I can all but guarantee you that your network is monitored to some degree. With that said, even monitoring the network will not allow them access to your bank account online - it is an encrypted connection between your individual computer and the bank's, so don't worry too much. |
