Do corporations really care about you?
In a period of bailouts, deceptive practices, corporate greed, undeserved bonuses, astronomical executive salaries for bad decisions, outsourcing jobs overseas, downsizing, layoffs, tax avoidance, overseas bank accounts, tax shelters, unethical practices with few repercussions. Have the people and government of such, lost their way? Have we lost control?

Corporations, at least ones with public stock, do not and cannot care about anyone.

They’re required by law to do whatever is best for the shareholders. If that means firing employees, or reducing benefits, it’s required.

The free market does many things very well, but being cushy to employees is not one of them.

corporations will spend millions to find out one thing about you-- how to get you to spend more money on their products. they do not care about you in any other way.

Corporations are not people, so they do not have feelings.

Corporations are made up of people: employees, stock holders, board members, etc. They mostly care about whether you buy their products. They do not want to get sued, so they make sure their products are reasonably safe. Beyond that, you would have to define what you mean by "care about you".

Some individuals of the corporation may be motivated by altruistic reasons to make the world a better place, and genuinely cares for each and every customer. That is one possible motivation for them. I think most are motivated by their pay check, and the possibility of being paid more if they can improve sales or quality or the stock price. Any care for the customer is an indirect result of trying to make more money.

But corporations do not have emotions themselves. You would have to look at the motiviations of the individual people that make up the company.

That is, a "corporation" can buy, sell, and bear responsibility. This is good in that it attenuates risk, without which much of our advancement wouldn't have happened (the first motorized vehicle crashed into a brick wall and the driver was cited.) This is bad in that the directors of such corporations then make bone-headed decisions and hide behind the corporation paying for their evil (see Union Carbide, India.) That's as it is, tho, and it won't change ('cept maybe worsen.) So, can a ficititious thing care? Nope. Do the human being directors care? Not for you, but for your money, yes. Do the human being directors care about the employees? No (and I have that one personally), they care about your money. Only your money. And they care that they have it and you don't. Lost way? Sheesh, this has been their way since the thing was invented. It's the only way a corporation has ever had. Any corporation that tried a different way quickly ceased to exist.
This is why I find comfort in God, my Creator. It isn't anywhere else.

Your A number from the very beginning., Employee number, extension number, Head count, statistic, Just an end to a means. I worked for a Huge corporation for 25 years.and the only time you are missed is if you are not there. Down sizing combing, all are catch Words for more work for the same money. And if you disagree, there are 300 people waiting to take your place, and start the chain all over again.
