Do you believe that soda and coffee companies will be..?
Held accountable for the products they have produced and the poor health issues that will result from long term use. (like tobacco and fast food companies have weathered)

This has already started...Vending machines being pulled from schools...California has toyed with the idea of a Tax on soft drinks to "offset" health associated costs due to childhood obesity...etc....

Whats next? We keep sacrificing a little bit more free choice and parental control to the Government to do it for us every day....After caffeine who will they go after....because realistically EVERY food causes some sort of issue in a percentage of the population.....even those consider the most "healthy" beans, legumes, peanuts, sprouts...etc Look up any food and you will find medical problems related to someone with it...should we regulate everything everyone eats because some don't control themselves or their children at all?????

No.

Yes.

Because after the lawyers and ridiculous lawsuits have run every other business out of the states, they will be the only ones left to sue.

But I don't think it will be soda and coffee, I think it will be soda, fast food, and convenience food companies.

Ain't America grand

Sounds like someone has seen "Fast Food Nation".

I think it's a serious issue. Why should corporations reap the profits from the sale of really unhealthy albeit legal foods, and then the public be forced to pay for the health costs that affect us all?

No. The soda and coffee co. have responded positively to criticism and developed products that respond to the criticism

miss brightsides
no, because it is ultimately the consumers responsibility to be aware of what they are putting into their bodies.

If it was proven that they intentionally misled or decieved the public, then that is another matter and it should be addressed in whatever public forum necessary.
