I'm sure they'd all prefer to sell you drugs that work and aren't harmful, but they're in business to make a profit, and they make huge profits, a lot of which they invest in advertising theird drugs to get more people to buy them. They will try to convince you to buy whatever products they make, whether they work or not. Drug companies should not be trusted - they are not trying to help you, they are trying to make money. |

You could then make the same arguement for any business. The airline wants you to fly their planes whether they are safe or not. The toothpaste company wants to sell you toothpaste whether it's safe or not. The peach growers want to sell you peaches whether they are safe or not (covered in pesticides). Etc, etc, etc....
So what's your point? |

Drug companies are a BUSINESS, and the number one purpose of a business is to make a PROFIT. That said, where are you going to buy those new drugs that cost $20,000,000 and took 10 years to test for the disease that had no treatment or cure before? Refined sugar probably does more harm for all of us than the drug companies. Its a much more complicated issue than you make it. Yes we should question the drug companies, but we should be questioning ALL companies - and not just singling out the pharmaceutical manufacturers. |

Yes, they are designed to make a profit not cure disease. The hope is these very expensive pills will someday come off patent and then very cheap versions of them will be available forever. In the long run, we will be better off, someday. |

Exactly, that's why we "need" our kids pumped up with so many vaccines. I understand the crippling ones like polio, but hepatitis is a SEXUALLY TRANSMITTED DISEASE. Newborns do not need shot up with it at 1 day old. All business are in business to make money. If you were selling a product wouldn't you want as many people to buy from you as possible? That is how it should be. But your mantra should be "buyer beware." Take personal responsibility and do research before you purchase. That is especially true for medications. |
