Yes - at certain ones. For instance, I refuse to shop at Wal-Mart due to their low wages, non-union mentality, poor health insurance, low morals, etc. They also do a lot of putting mom-and-pop stores out of business.
Check out the website for details. |

I agree with you 100%. But sometimes we have to think of ourselves. If we felt sorry for all the mom and pop stores, then we would be out alot of money. Unfortunately the government doesnt put harsh enogh rules about the number of big chains allowed in 1 juresdiction. They should. But yes, I agree with you and feel guilty as well.
I also forgot to add, that I work for a company that supplies product to other companies who manufacture walmarts products. Wal-mart dictates to its suppliers that if they dont lower prices of materials, then they will put them out of business, Walmart hurts alot of people. |

You need to remember that the big corporations used to be mom and pop's stores too. |

Unfortunately, stores like Walmart offer prices that are much appreciated and well received by people who have little extra money to be spending.
As lovely as it would be to support local businesses and such, their price are often notably higher than the big stores.
PS even Walmart started as a small 'Mom & Pop' store. |

Its an evolution of the marketplace. Not something you can control as an individual. |

People go for better quality, and most people know that. Im guessing that the small stores are trying to get across that friendly image, forgetting what they really need for customers - a very big arrow pointing to their store! |

Listen.....I feel bad about alot of things going wrong in this country...But It's inevitable.....That the mom and pop shops...as much as i Love them...will soon be a thing of the past...and will only be able to get to them in small remote towns that cater to tourist. It is a sad situation for us all....It's to late to worry about that now...Our country has turned into a coporate world.... As long as i can feed my children at a reasonable price thats all im conserened about at this point.... If health care becomes universal in america...are you going to boycott that? |

No I don't feel bad about where I shop.
However, it is a fact that shopping at those types of places absolutely hurts the little man.
Although, I do dislike a lot of the people that shop at Walmart because they just seem slightly below the average intelligence |

1. Mom and Pop killed the 'Mom and Pop" stores by not offering goods at competitive prices; what people are willing to pay.
2. The successful 'Mom and Pops' that I've met have generally been terrific at service and supplying product and have usually expanded into huge companies. |

So we havent gone there since... 4 years ago ^^
I always did feel guilty, because in our smaller town there's a old small guy that runs a shop, and I think he's about to go out of business =[ |

I try to patronize mom and pop mini marts when I can . Its hard to resist Walmart cause of the prices and selection. If I could afford to, I would not shop the big stores. Remember when Walmart used to advertise " made in America"??? |

No.
I feel great.
I get a good deal and a better product.
The kicker? Those annoying mom and pop businesses are run out. |
