Very much so. I have just accepted an offer on my house nearly £90,000 below what it was valued at just ten months ago, I am struggling like crazy to make ends meet each month and to an extent I am living off my credit card until my house sale goes through. Things are horrible for me right now, money-wise. |

Yes indeed. I live in Atlanta, GA and businesses in this area are closing down after having been active for several years. |

I would say so! Hence the need for more people to try and stay out of debt and live below their means, not above like most out there seem to want to do, only to impress their neighbors. That is why so many are in such trouble now.
I think this situation the world is in is a hard lesson for all to learn, but a lesson nevertheless.
Keep it simple, stay debt free, save your money and put a good part of it in a safe place for rainy days, and enjoy the rest if you can!

yes exspcially in the south. Because of the storms and even before the storms we didn't have much to work with in new orleans compared to other states no offence and the mayor put a hold on hiring in the city so if you have a job hold and if you don't have one it is very hard to find 1 |

I live in NJ. My mom was laid off and hasn't been able to find work because there aren't many job openings. I believe the unemployment rate has gone up to 6.1% in my state. A lot of people I know have been cutting down on things - cancelling cable, buying only the essentials, etc. The only good thing about this recession is gas is only $1.50/gallon now. And a lot of stores have been closing in my area. Within the last 2 months, I can list 4-5 stores within 15 miles that have closed due to lack of sales. |

No I'm spending us out of it in the UK and Canada at any rate, splash the cash thats the only way your going to boost the economy, if everyone hides in doors saving their money waiting for it to blow over it will be a long wait. |

Heck yeah! Our city in Western PA has been struggling for over a year. Businesses closing their doors, there have been no new jobs in the newspapers for months and months.
I am an employer and had a talk with staff in October about possible layoffs, cut benefits and took out things like paid lunchtimes and cut all overtime and put a couple of people to part time. My husband and I took pay cuts so we could try to avoid laying off our staff for as long as possible.
The first week of the year for us is usually our busiest for new clients but we've barely had any calls. Our competitors are calling us asking if we have work to share with them. |

There is definitely a recession in the US and all over the world.
My retirement accounts, which are invested in US stocks, are down approximately 25%.
I'm a teacher and and my job is safe.
Nobody in my family wants to spend any money because they are horrified about how much money they have lost in the stock market. |
