Yes they are making it worse than it is. It would help if people would spend but that alone will not solve the problem. Also the way our government is printing money right now will hurt us in the long run, the value of the dollar will be very low and hurt the buying power of it latter. So by trying to help the government may actually be causing us more problems just down the road. They are robbing Peter to pay Paul. But yes the media is making people feel less financially safe overall and because of that people will be less likely to spend. Also spending alone will not help this out. This is so much more complex than just people not spending. In reality I think this may be good for people. I mean we have as a nation spent more than we earned over the last few years. Maybe this will make people refocus on their spending habits. |

Absolutely!
The job of mainstream media is to sell soap, which they do quite well by creating fear and panic for the average person that really has no idea the cause and effects of the economy right now. People will tune in to see what possible kookiness they will come up with next.
If the media were to inform and educate, rather than to create sensationalism and twist reality to the point of barely being truthful they would be much more helpful. |

Actually the Conservative Talk Show hosts who are telling us to go out amd Buy., Buy, Buy
Ergo, the Conservative Talk Show Hosts are making it worse by denying it didn't stare when it actually started which was in December 2007.
I have always observed this fact: We are always deep into the Recession when the President's economic team tells him to tell us we are in a Recession.
We are well out of the Recession when the President's Economic Experts tell him to tell us the recession is over.
It would seem th me, if "We, the Average, Taxpayers, can tell when we are in the beginning and ending of a recession, then the so called Economic Expert team selected by the President should also be able to admit we are in a recession when it actually begins, not after we are one year into a recession. |
