Do you feel more compelled to buy American made cars (Ford, GM) to help rebuild those companies and Detriot?

No! We live in a capitalistic society. The business world is driven by competition which is good for consumers and innovation. If Ford or GM decided to actually listen to the customer and build a car that is not only appeasing in form but also in function then more people would buy their brands.

The Japanese and German auto makers moved many of their production's to the US because they knew American consumers were proud of product built in the U.S. dispute the brand being owned by a foreign company. Smart move. Toyota and Honda have been building cars and trucks that appeal to the American consumer.

As a consumer I will chose the best brand that fits my overall needs. I'm as American as the next consumer but when buying such large items you get what you pay for!

Not really. I'd rather buy a more dependable car rather than buy one out of sympathy.

And most of GM and Ford's vehicles are not build in this country anyways.

No. I feel compelled to buy cars MADE in America. Like Toyota and Honda. To help keep money IN America.

No
I work for chrysler and I bought a jeep liberty...its a fine little car, but getting 20mpg on the freeway at 60mph is a little bit harsh...other than that the car is really neat, i love it.....
but look at our durango and dakota pickkups...why would anyone buy these ugly beasts...
Look at all the ugly cars GM makes, with two nonsymetrical antennae on the roof, the nondesciprt, underachievers that ford makes.
I think we are on the cusp of a major shakedown like what happened to us, with either or both GM or ford....they need a parent company to come in and kick their a## and get them to make cars that people want....they dont seem to be able to do it themselves, maybe we couldnt either at DCX.

Can't beat American. But, lately I am tempted to buy cars ASSEMBLED in America. Not Canada nor Mexico nor Timbuktu. Most American cars aren't completely 100% American. Are there any that are? I'll put my money where it will go back into the pockets of the American worker.

Naomi
yes!!

Not at all. Those cars are really garbage and they don't last long either, the really good cars are the asian cars (Toyota, Lexus, Honda, Acura, Nissan, Infinity etc...)

blue_screen69
I'm inclined to buy the car with the best fuel economy, performance and price. It's a global market place. Detroit needs to step up or shut up.

I will buy the truck that offers the best vehicle in my price range that best fits my needs regardless of where it comes from. Long live capitalism. If the American company is inferior then it will go away. Adios I say. I don't want the "Made in America" label on an inferior product. Ford Rules !
