ohhhhhhh yes!
Ok basically , i was selling my nintendo wii on ebay . It came with a few things 2 controllers . Now i got a personal message after the auction was up saying someone would like to buy it off me for 130 pound , i was in need of the cash so i snapped it up . The person then phoned me and said he would pick it up as he didnt live to far away . Then my Girlfriend explained to him there might be a fault with the wii controller but if it does break , just give us a call . Now i pre tested the control before giving it to him and it worked 100% fine!!!! He was threating me with a small claims court and everything , so my very smart friend wrote a few letters and he backed away!. Could of turned nasty!!! He also kept pranking my home phone , this guy was in his 30's as well .I asked him to send it back to me and i will test it , but he refused! |

The worst is being an eBay seller. You bust your butt to sell things and provide good customer service. Then you get one nutjob who lies about not getting an expensive package and PayPal takes all your money. You have the shipping information, you can prove delivery. They don't care. They got you money and they'll keep it.
And theres no good alternative! DOWN WITH EBAY. DOWN WITH PayPal! |

used half.com (part of ebay) to purchase 4 books for school. Never received any of them. After ebay drug me along i went to my CC company to get a refund and got a call from ebay the next day saying they would cancel my account if I followed through with the CC refund.
Went through with my Visa refund and my account was never closed.
Received an e-mail from ebay 6 months later saying "... we determined that a seller you purchased a product from was a fraudulent account. We have refunded your $68 dollars back" ... My total purchase from half.com = $450. Ebay realized 68 dollars of that. Good thing credit card companies allow you to recieve your money back. They way I see it, i got an additional 68 dollars from ebay for my trouble : )
Paypal i have yet to receive bad experiences from, but i'm sure it's only a matter of time.*knock on wood* |

I don't use e-bay or paypal.
However, here's a story regarding such site and how things happen when using them.
Its long, but believe me, its worth the entire read.
Enjoy... (desert camel, I hope this makes you feel better)

I have only ever sold one item and that was stressful enough...
I buy a lot on Ebay...I got married 2 months ago and my whole wedding was from there. Dresses, flowers, balloons, cake decs, room decs, favours, gifts, mens suits with waistcoats and ties etc...and the list goes on. I have never come across a really bad seller yet.
I did buy my sons bike from Ebay a while back and it was faulty..it had to go back which was a pain in the bum..having it stuck in the hallway for 2 weeks until they collected it. It took far too long to refund my money but I got it in the end.
All in all...I have had no bad experiences |

There are whole web sites dedicated to eBay / PayPal fraud .. there are even discussion boards on 'main stream' sites trashing PayPal ....
Essentially the con-merchants and criminals have had a field day using PayPal (and 'charge backs') to take money off innocent buyers & sellers .... and PalPay's reaction always seems to be to 'freeze' everyone's account (both guilty and innocent) whilst they 'investigate' .. which typically means demanding sufficient documentation to confirm (or steal) your identity 10 times over...
They can take up to 6 months to come to a decision and, more often than not, since even the most stupid criminal is long gone by then, it's the innocent victim that gets stuck with ALL of the losses ..
Basis of the fraud ..
Fake Seller .. criminal puts up for auction lots of expensive gear at knock down prices .. gets paid, withdraws the money from PayPal and runs ...
Eventually all the buyers will complains nothing has been delivered .. PayPal attempts to keep each Buyer 'in limbo' for at least 30 days (after which the Buyer can not get their Bank to a 'charge back') .. if any Buyer reacts by doing a 'charge back', PayPal immediately freezes their account ..
Fake Buyer .. criminal buys lots of expensive gear, pays using PayPal, waits for it to be delivered and then claims it's not been delivered and does a 'charge back' .. PayPal either immediately passes the 'charge back' onto the Sellers account and/or freezes both accounts .. the innocent Seller is put out of business (since they can no longer gain access to their PayPal funds but are still forced to offer PayPal to Buyers as a means of payment)
Fake Buyer AND Fake Seller (criminal with two accounts) -- this is where the '£20,000 mobile phone auction' comes in .. fake Seller puts up some item with an astronomical 'reserve' .. fake Buyer bids and wins it. Fake Buyer pays using PayPal .. fake Seller withdraws the money and runs, fake Buyer does a 'charge' back' ..... result = an instant 'double your money' .. |

Yeah I sold a piano once and the guy replied saying it was broken. He wanted some money back so I had to ignore him and close my ebay account.
That was horrific. I kept the money and he had a broken piano, haha |
