I recently received a job offer that I couldn't refuse. I wasn't even looking. But now I have accepted the job and I have to give my notice. I have worked for the company for more than 5 years and get along very well with everyone, but I have reached my peak (can no longer move up in the company) Do I really have to tell them why I am leaving since it just has to do with money and nothing else...plus I don't want to hurt their feelings. |

You don't have to do anything. You can just not show up one day. The point to 2 weeks notice is courtesy and not burning bridges. You don't have to tell your future ex-boss your reasons for leaving.
But again it is a courtesy to explain why. "I've been offered a new position that offers substantial career advancement and significant compensation." This is not only polite but it also gives your boss the chance to counter offer.
The only reason I would not say why you are leaving is if the reason was deeply personal. "Boss, I've been convicted of child molesting and I'm going to prison. Will my job be waiting for me in 10-to 20 years?" |

Most companies would want to know why your leaving. especially a well liked individual like yourself. Tell them you were offered a chance to move up and onto new and different things. You tell them its for more pay they may counteroffer and when your in demand it can be sooooo good. Good Luck and its best to not burn any bridges |
